Fall is a great time to live or visit Long Beach Island. The summer crowds are mostly gone, the locals are enjoying some down time, and the weather is still beautiful (okay, don’t count this past weekend – LOL) enough to enjoy all the outdoor events and entertainment LBI has to offer. So, what are some of our favorite things to do this fall on Long Beach Island? Here’s our top three picks for all things this season on LBI.
Chowderfest
One of the biggest events every fall on LBI is Chowderfest! People come from all over to celebrate this iconic festival, now in it’s 34th year. Come on out this Saturday, September 30th from 10 am to 6 pm at the Taylor Avenue Waterfront in Beach Haven. The Bayfront Festival & Vendor Village will have tons of new vendors, makers, and products for shopping and is completely free. The chowder cookoff, run by the Hunger Foundation of Southern Ocean County, is from 11 am to 3:30 pm and tickets for this are available here. There will be eight local competing restaurants this year. This is an amazing event and is sure to become on of your favorites as well!
LBI FLY International Kite Festival
Who doesn’t love to look up while at the beach and see the colorful, waving kites flying up in the sky? The LBI International Kite Festival was first organized in 2015 and was organized to bring the brilliant colorful artist design kites, fun flaying giant inflatable kites, and the amazing show of sport kiting to Long Beach Island. This year, the festival will be held on Friday, October 6th through Sunday, October 8th from 68th to 72nd Streets in Brant Beach. There’s a whole slew of different events and a schedule for anyone interested in specific demonstrations. This event is really something to see and we recommend it for families of all ages.
Beach Haven Fall Festival
The abundance of festivals after summer are one of the main reasons we love fall on Long Beach Island. This one, also known as Queen City Fall Fest, is a great family friendly event. There is live music, a vendor village with local area shops and crafters, as well as food vendors, kid zone with inflatables, and the Beach Haven Fire Department sponsor a Touch a Truck event. For 21 and over there will be craft beers on tap and canned seltzers to try. This is such a fun event for kids of all ages and this year it’s scheduled on October 14th at noon at the Veteran’s Bicentennial Park in Beach Haven. We recommend you don’t miss out on this one!
