We are approaching the unofficial start of summer here on Long Beach Island. It’s always an exciting time when the beaches are open, and towns begin to bustle. It’s also a great time to enjoy some once-a-year kind of events throughout the towns. One of our favorite sources of event information is the LBI Chamber of Commerce website. We took a quick look and here’s a short guide to some Memorial Day Weekend Fun on Long Beach Island.
Long Beach Township is having a 125th Anniversary Celebration and Summer Kickoff on Saturday, May 25th. The event is from 5-9PM and will be held at Bayview Park. There will be live music, kids’ activities, food & beverages for sale and everyone’s favorite – Fireworks! Over at Viking Village, there is an art and craft show on Sunday, May 26th. This will run from 10 am to 4:30 pm. There are over 70 vendors displaying fine arts, photography, ceramics, wood crafts, clothing, handmade jewelry and accessories. If you’re looking for more traditional Memorial Day events, like parades, there are two that you can hit up. One is the Barnegat Light Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony on Sunday, May 26th from 5:30-7PM. The other is on Memorial Day in Beach Haven which is provided in cooperation with the VFW Barnegat Light Post 3729 and the Borough of Beach Haven. This one will be at 10AM starting at Taylor Ave. and traveling south on Bay Ave to Veteran’s Park where a service will be held.
