2018’s Almost A Wrap: Here’s What Inspired Our Custom Homes on LBI This Year

With 2018 winding down and the holidays fast approaching, we thought it would be fun to revisit what inspired our custom homes on LBI this year. Design trends are always changing, so it’s important for us to keep on top of all the latest. In the beginning of a new year, we like to look at what’s to come. But we’ve never taken a look back, and we’re excited to share some of the greatest features we’ve built for some of our homeowners in 2018. And for anyone thinking about starting a new custom home on Long Beach Island, now is the time to start. We build all winter long to ensure our homebuyers can enjoy their new custom homes the following year.  We hope you enjoy what inspired our custom homes on LBI this year!

Kitchens

Sleek, shiny, stainless steel appliances were on trend for new custom homes in 2018. But, adding more color to the kitchen also ranked as a top design trend this year. We did a lot of pops of color with backsplashes and even different color cabinets on uppers, lowers, and islands. We love when our customers use a different cabinet for the center island than the rest of the kitchen.

Custom Homes on LBI Living Rooms and Bedrooms

Hardwood, bamboo, and reclaimed wood floors continued to inspire our design palette. Homeowners love the quality and low maintenance of hardwood and this was, and will continue to be, the trend for new custom homes on LBI. Eco-friendly and nature-inspired materials were popular choices for our homeowners on LBI.  Recycled floors are a growing custom home trend with some homeowners opting for reclaimed wood floors (or wall accents). With a continued environmental focus homeowners have been choosing low VOC paints and stains for their living areas. As for colors,  rich, warm hues like warm grays paired with camel, rust, tobacco, and earthy reds and yellows were cutting edge for this year.

Custom Homes on LBI Outdoors

Creating an outdoor living space as an extension of the home continued to prove a strong design option. Our homeowners took full advantage of their outdoor space and enhanced it with decks, patios, screened in gathering areas, and Gunite pools. They also created focal areas with fire pits, water features and landscaping. These spaces gave the perfect spots to soak in the sun, relax in the shade, or entertain guests while still enjoying the views and the beautiful outdoors.

Exterior Facades

Custom Homes on LBI Exterior details add interest to the outside architectural design of a new home. This is particularly important when you have a small sized property, as many lots on LBI are undersized.  Our homebuyers did a great job of adding some extra attention to elements such as windows, trim, and accents. This provided a personalized feel and curb appeal. We feel this will continue to be a focus for our homebuyers in the new year.
